I didn’t know how I was going to survive, much less live again.
Maybe you’ve been there too.
I wanted to run away from the pain. I didn’t want to sit in it, heal through it, or even admit it was real. But over time, I discovered something I never expected:
Sometimes the path back to life doesn’t start with something big.
It starts with the small, simple things that help you keep going—just one moment at a time.
Grief has a way of making the world feel gray and lifeless.
Even the things that used to bring joy or peace can suddenly feel out of reach. But over time, I began noticing that a few simple comforts were helping me feel more like myself again.
They didn’t erase my pain.
They didn’t fix the ache.
But they gave me something to hold onto—a sense of rhythm, a moment of relief, a reminder that I was still here.
You don’t need a 10-step plan to start healing.
Sometimes you just need a cold drink, a walk outside, or a few deep breaths in the quiet with God.
The little things can anchor you when everything else feels out of control.
In this episode, I share a few of my favorite things—simple comforts that helped me stay when I wanted to run. These weren’t grand, life-altering changes. They were small, often quiet moments that grounded me when everything else felt out of control.
Here are just a few of the things that helped me keep going after the loss of my son:
These are the things that carried me—it started with one, and slowly, over time –
They became a rhythm. A thread of life I could follow. Life is different now, but there are still good things I could enjoy while my feet are still here on planet earth.
If you feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to begin, I want to help.
In this week’s episode, I give you a few questions you can ask yourself to gently uncover what brings even the smallest sense of peace.
💭 What feels like relief, even for a moment?
💭 What helps you feel a little more like yourself?
💭 When was the last time you noticed something that felt ‘good” that gave your heart and mind rest?
Write it down. Just one thing.
That’s your starting point.
Over time, your list will grow—and so will your ability to live inside your grief, not run from it.
Isaiah 43:19 (NLT) says:
“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”
Friend, I know this feels like a wilderness.
But even here—especially here—God is making a way.
So don’t worry about finding all the answers today.
Just begin by noticing one simple thing that helps you keep going.
You are not failing. You are surviving something impossible.
And step by step, with God’s help, you are learning how to live again.
