👉 “I will not die; instead, I will live to tell what the Lord has done.” — Psalm 118:17 🌿
I watched grieving moms sit with thoughts that had been on repeat for months or even years… until one simple truth from God’s Word broke through and brought light into dark places.
And it reminded me that transformation doesn’t begin with big, dramatic moments. It begins with one thought surrendered to God and replaced with His truth.
Grief has a way of trapping us in endless cycles of “what if” and “if only.” Those thoughts play like a broken record, and before we realize it, we’ve built a dark prison in our own minds.
But then the light of God’s Word shines in. When one lie is replaced with His truth, it opens the door to freedom. Suddenly, there’s a shift — and that small shift changes everything.
Romans 12:2 says:
“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”
Transformation begins with the renewing of our minds. One thought at a time.
One thing I noticed in the workshop is this: even when truth is spoken, it doesn’t always stick the first time. Or even the second. Or the third.
Some of the most powerful moments happened when grieving moms heard the same truth over and over — in a new way, through a different story, or at just the right moment. Then it finally took root.
Even Peter understood this. In 2 Peter 1:12 he writes, “Therefore I will always remind you about these things, even though you already know them and are standing firm in the truth you have been taught.”
We need reminders. We need truth on repeat. And we need community to help us keep hearing it.
Here’s what I want you to hold onto this week:
✨ Encouragement in the waiting: Even if you can’t see it, God is at work.
💔 The power of one thought: When God’s Word replaces the lies we repeat to ourselves in grief, everything shifts.
🌿 Transformation starts small: It begins with renewing our minds, not dramatic, overnight changes.
🔄 Truth must be repeated: Don’t be discouraged if you need to remind yourself again tomorrow — that’s how seeds grow.
🙌 Holy moments happen in community: When grieving hearts cry out to God together, He meets us there.
It’s one thing to hear truth — it’s another to practice holding onto it.
If you’ve ever noticed, grief doesn’t let go easily. The “what ifs” and “if onlys” return again and again. That’s why creating intentional practices to anchor your mind in truth is so important.
Here are a few gentle ways you can begin practicing the shift:
These small practices don’t erase grief, but they help create steady reminders of God’s presence in the middle of it.
Friend, what’s one thought you’ve been sitting in on repeat? And what truth from Scripture could take its place?
Be gentle with yourself. It’s not weakness to repeat God’s truth day after day — it’s faithfulness. And He will remind you as many times as it takes.
You are not alone.
And you are deeply loved.
With love,
Your Grief Mentor, Teresa
